The SENCo

The SENCo is responsible for the operation of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Policy and coordination of specific provision made to support individual students with SEND.

The SENCo is available to meet and talk to parents/carers and is involved in the transition process of students from primary school and post 16 transition, ensuring the needs of students with SEND are met and the transfer is as smooth as possible.

The SENCo liaises with staff to monitor student progress and plan further interventions where progress is lower than expected.

The SENCo has regular contact with a wide range of external agencies that are able to give more specialised advice.
